Connor Leahy, CEO of Conjecture, in an interview with TRT World (2024), talks about how people are interested in AI. AI is intelligent, which can help humanity solve problems, but there’s also a moral problem with AI. Some people are not considering the consequences of the future. We don’t know how soon humanity will change from merging with AI, but with no oversight or accountability, we may lose control over AI because of this, and AI will grow exponentially.
It is important to think about and have healthy conversations about AI’s limitations. We may not realize the potential consequences until AI is normalized in society.
That was a very interesting video interview, one that opened my eyes as far as Connor stating that this is a slow “temperature rise” that is allowing people to get used to the AI idea and it’s possible benefits. Yet, as Connor stated there are many, including myself, that feel that this is growing to fast and possible will lead us to not be able to control who AI reaches it’s final phase of influence. I think that the potential for drastic changes not only to the job market, but to the world we live in. I for one, can only watch and educate myself. I do not understand technology, and like most, are too busy to spend hours researching the topic. Yet in order to understand the consequences I must make time. We will all see the final effects of this technology soon enough, and are already seeing the impacts on our lives daily.
