You get up in the morning, put your feet on the ground, and are self-aware that you are in this life.
And, you know you are in this life by having experiences, losses, hurt, and questioning yourself and life. Life is full of never-ending complexities and challenges. It’s having memories that haunt you. It’s wading through life’s ups and downs until you finally realize that these things wax and wane, and you are enlightened that life is also full of beautiful moments and your soul finds a resting state of peace.
You learn that you can firmly stand during life’s challenges and that each new beautiful recognition about life elevates your soul higher and higher so that each lift slowly chips away at guilt, shame, self-doubt, insecurities, and uncertainty, and the past challenges and memories no longer have a hold on you. You rise to a resting state of peace and contentment.
You allow the beautiful moments to be the lens through which you begin to see life and construct your path and reality. A way that embraces all that life brings – where you start to see and feel a genuine purpose, that life’s experiences have shaped and molded you to this purpose, and you feel at one with your soul. To know and acknowledge that you are physically chained to society’s laws and influences, but your soul is free from the constraints.
You know the wonder of the human body and appreciate how your cells live to sustain your body so that you can live another day, but those cells wear down, and we age till they can no longer support life the way they did before. You see life’s challenges as setbacks that, in the end, can bring you to a higher state of consciousness by learning to walk through them. You recognize that the sunset is a place where your soul finds rest.
For this reason, I do not wish for a non-biological brain as some transhumanists do. There is nothing non-biological that can teach me what I’ve learned about life and what I’ve written about here. I must learn that on my own through life’s experiences. I must learn through the pain and suffering, through coming to terms with my own thoughts – especially the painful ones, and must learn to direct my own life regardless of the influences of man, society, and those who rule over people.
Through experiences, I must learn what this life means, what I mean, and my place in the world. I must learn what it means to persevere adversities and accept all that is good and bad. Ultimately, I must learn what it means to be human—this is the power I hold over my human psyche.
This is how a person transcends. To transcend is to experience life naturally; nothing is artificial about that. Let your life be a journey that transcends you to a state of peace regardless of challenges, mistakes, or setbacks. I do not believe that technology or AI can take you to this higher state, and allowing it to do so may rob you of your humanness – when you hold the power within you.
